California Classic Cars
California classic cars are abundant on the roads of the state, in garages and driveways, in museums, and on tracks. If you live in the state, you know how much residents love their cars and how many enthusiasts of historic vehicles there are. Buying and selling, restoring and repairing, and just collecting and enjoying classic cars is a major pastime in California.
If you are planning to vacation in the state, or you are a resident, there are many ways in which you can enjoy California classic cars. Start with the California Automobile Museum in the capital, Sacramento. Nearly 200 classic vehicles are on display here including muscle cars, hot rods, race cars, and the earliest cars from the beginning of automotive history. In addition to the regular displays, you can check out the schedule of events and special exhibits including educational opportunities for kids.
For more California Classic cars, stop by Reiff’s Antique Gas Station Automotive Museum in Woodland. This is a great place to see what automotive life was like back in the 1950s. An extensive collection of gas station and car memorabilia is on display. The museum even rents out space for photo shoots. If you have a classic car, you can take pictures of it in an historically-accurate setting.
If you enjoy racing in particular when you think of California classic cars, visit Sonoma in late May for the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival. At the racetrack in the heart of wine country, you can enjoy watching historic vehicles battle it out against each other. There are several different races to watch, and you can even register and participate if you have a race-worthy historic vehicle that would qualify for any one of the events.
Whatever your true automotive passion, there are plenty of events for California classic cars throughout the state and at any time of year. Whether you live here or are just visiting, this is a great state to enjoy history and cars.
