The Chevelle model was an entirely new line for 1964 and Chevy continued to produce it through 1973, when the Malibu name took over. Buyers in the 1960s loved the Chevelle and the SS especially. It proved to be one of Chevy’s best-selling nameplates and the SS impressed both typical buyers and muscle car fans.
