The MGB: Classics Never Grow Old

'63 MG MGBThe 1960s brought the British to the shores of the United States. The decade delivered The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, James Bond movies, and the Mod style. MG MGB

MG MGB 1965The MG MGB is a car that was made by MG from 1962 through 1980. MG was a British manufacturer of sports cars that was founded in the 1920s. The letters stand for Morris Garages, the origin of the car company in Oxford. The now defunct manufacturer was long known for sporty little two-seaters that helped ignite enthusiasm for sports cars in the U.S. and elsewhere.

For 18 years, MG produced the MGB model with very minimal changes, a testament to its popular design. It replaced the MGA in 1962, which was the first sports car to be produced in numbers over 100,000. MG introduced the B as a roadster with a four-cylinder engine. By 1965, a 2 + 2 coupe was also available.

British Auto: 1977 MGB

The 1977 MGB is a unique- looking foreign car which certainly stands apart from the more stereotypical American classic cars from the 1970s. Assembled under the direction of British car maker MG Cars, this sports car is one classified as a roadster.  Succeeding its predecessor, the MGA, the MGB was first introduced in 1962 and had a respectable run before it came to an end in 1980. Relatively few were produced, totaling about 399,000 units in its 19-year run.

When looking at the MG MGB of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, it is easy to see the influence that the ground-breaking sports car had on the Mazda classic.
