For those who admire and dream of owning a legendary Porsche 356, but can never scrape together enough money for one, there is always the 356 Replica. Replicas and kit cars are popular with car enthusiasts with thin wallets. Take a standard, regular old car and build it up to look and drive like your dream car. Replicas are not always cheap, but they are much less expensive than the original models that inspire them. They are also easier to get your hands on, as compared to many limited-production originals.
A true supercar of the 1980s, the Porsche 959 was created by the German car company to comply with regulations for FIA homologation. The 959 was a part of what many fans deem the Golden Age of rally racing, Group B. To satisfy rules for racing the 959 in Group B, Porsche needed to make at least 200 street-legal units. The result was the fastest road-ready car in the world at the time. Porsche ended up making 337 of these cars between 1986 and 1989.
Porsche built its 944 model from 1982 to 1991. Sharing a platform with the 924, this new model didn’t quite replace it, as the 924 continued to be produced until 1988. The 944, in its turn, gave way to the 968. Porsche originally intended to keep it around well into the 1990s, but the updates made to the 924 in the early ‘90s were major and involved so many new parts that it ended up being rolled into the new model.
Porsche intended for the 928 to replace the 911 when they came out with it in 1978. Fans of the iconic 911 simply weren’t ready to let it go and the 928 became a new model, but not a replacement. The German maker of performance sports cars thought that a new car with more refinement and comfort was needed in place of the more finicky 911. The 928 was a two-door coupe sports car, but one that included the same kind of equipment as a luxury sedan, along with superior handling, more space, and plenty of power. It may not have taken the 911 out of the lineup, but the 928, which was produced through 1995, did become a top seller and a legend in its own right.

The Porsche 550 is a legendary car for many reasons. Most notoriously, it was a 550 Spyder that James Dean drove to his death at the young age of 24. The 550 was designed in the early 1950s and sold from 1953 to just 1956. It came in both coupe and spyder body styles and included elements to maximize its speed in racing events. In fact, it was to a racetrack to try out his new sports car that was James Dean’s destination on that fateful day in 1955.
The Porsche 356 is a car that the legendary German manufacturer produced from 1948 to 1965. Today the 365 is a popular collectible, especially among those who revere the German brand. The 365 is notable for many reasons, but primarily for being the first production vehicle that Porsche ever made. The company began in the 1930s to do consulting and development work, including the government-directed design of the Volkswagen, the car for the people. The 356 is a rear-wheel drive, two-door sports car with a rear-engine configuration. Of the 76,000 units originally made, about half have been accounted for today.

Datsun 240Z: Prior to the release of the Datsun 240Z, Japanese cars were small, compact, and somewhat ugly. The Datsun 240Z was the first speedy Japanese car to hit American shores. These cars were sexy and fast and drivers loved them. The Datsun 240Z paved the way for other gorgeous Asian cars like the Scion FRS, the Nissan Skyline, and the Toyota Celica.

In the 1970s and 1980s, no television show was cooler than Dallas. Millions tuned in each week to watch the dirty dealings of J.R. Ewing and his dysfunctional relationships with his brother, wife, and business associates. The show lasted for 14 seasons as audiences watched the lives of these millionaires and their beautiful homes, clothing, and lifestyles. Metro Cruise Draws Big Crowds
Car guys and gals know all about the Woodward Dream Cruise that occurs each summer during the third weekend of August in Detroit, Michigan. However, the east side of the state is not the only place to show off your hotrod, muscle car, sportscar, or tin lizzie. Every summer for the past nine years, Grand Rapids holds the 28th Street Metro Cruise the weekend following the Dream Cruise on the fourth weekend of August. This classic car show draws huge crowds up and down the 10 miles of this business-lined five-lane road as everyone wants to see classic cars like the Ford Fairlane, Chevy Bel Air, as well as exotics like the Ferrari Testarossa and the Lotus Esprit.
