Ford GT vs. Chevy Corvette
Over the years, the fight between Ford and Chevy has grown to nearly epic proportions. The fans of Chevys and Fords continually argue about what automaker is the best. Most of the battles between the makers is with their trucks and the muscle cars. Along with the trucks and the muscle cars, nearly every Chevy and Ford model, like mid-size sedans, SUVs, and compacts, can be put head-to-head, with the exception of one: the true sports car.
Expensive Cars to Repair
Anyone who has ever owned a car knows this statement to be true: Cars are not cheap to own. Taking the cost of the car, insurance, fuel, and maintenance into account, the actual cost to own the car is usually close t double the cost of the actual monthly car payment that people pay. Yes, many cars come with excellent warranties, but once those run out, the actual cost to repair several makes and models can be absolutely outrageous. These are a few of the highest:
Where Do the Car Names Come From?
Bel Air. Corvette. Nova. Delray. Car manufacturers have worked hard to create memorable names and for the most part, they have succeeded. But, where do those names originate? In many cases, the names are often taken from foreign languages, places, and science.
One of the most iconic cars of all time is actually named after a speedy warship. The Chevy Corvette shares the same name with a small, lightly armed warship. Most corvettes were and are still used by foreign navies, but there were some that were used by the United States Navy during World War II. It only seems appropriate that the fastest production car is named after another speedy object.
Songs About Cars
Cars and music go hand-in-hand. The first radio was installed in 1922 in a Chevy. For $200 the radio antenna dominated the roof of the car as well as the majority of interior. It was not convenient. Needless-to-say, the radio did not take off. But, by the mid 1940s, there were over 9 million cars with radios. Over the years, there have been several songs about cars and most of those catchy lyrics have stuck with us for decades. These are some of the most memorable cars and the songs about them:
Chevy’s Corvette is the epitome of the classic American sports car. No other American-made car comes close to the 60-plus year history of this vehicle. Since 1953, Corvettes have been rolling off the lines and into the hearts of drivers, not just in the U.S., but around the world. The Corvette ZR1 is a classic of the brand and one of the best performance cars ever made.
The Corvette Expo in Sevierville, Tennessee is the premiere event for all Corvette lovers. Held twice each year in the spring and the fall, the Corvette Expo is a great weekend filled with classic and new Corvettes and a gathering of the most enthusiastic of Corvette owners and appreciators. People travel here from all over the country to share in common enjoyment of this classic American sports car.
1970 Corvette: For the 1970 model year, Chevrolet Corvette sales suffered significantly, but that was no fault of this classic car’s. Due to a shortened model year as a result of a UAW strike in 1969, the 1969 model year was extended so that it took a few months longer than normal for the 1970 model year Corvettes to become available in United States show rooms.
1963 Corvette: The Chevrolet Corvette was first introduced for the 1953 model year, and of course it was the brainchild of the legendary automotive designer Harley Earl. This first-generation of the Corvette design lasted through the 1962 model year.
1963 signaled the beginning of the second-generation of Corvette production, and with it came the introduction of the name “Corvette Sting Ray.” A lot of people are not aware of the fact that the Sting Ray designation was not always a part of the Corvette name.
