Mid-America Chevelle Club
The Mid-America Chevelle Club is “dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of all stock, modified, and custom 1964 – 1987 Chevelles and El Caminos.” This Chevy Chevelle enthusiasts club meets once a month in Merriam, Kansas to enjoy and celebrate this classic muscle car. To join the club, you need not own a Chevelle or El Camino, but you must love them.
While the Mid-America Chevelle Club hosts numerous events throughout the year for members and others, the biggest event of the year is the annual show. In September of every year, the Mid-America Chevelle Club car show presents classic cars and awards along with other types of entertainment. Held in Kansas, the event includes awards for the top three cars in each class as well as for the best paint and best engine. All participants are eligible for door prizes and registration is inexpensive. The show kicks off on a Friday night with a cook out, poker, and a cruise.
In addition to the annual Mid-America Chevelle Club car show, this car enthusiast club offers events throughout the year for enjoying classic cars and for raising money for worthy charities. Numerous cruises are scheduled throughout the year, especially in the summer, as are smaller car shows. The club also organizes trips for its members to other regional car shows or classic car museums.
The charitable work of the Mid-America Chevelle Club is an important aspect of this group. The members are dedicated to raising money while enjoying their classic cars and events. Over the course of each year, the club organizes several charity events. Proceeds from these fundraisers go to a number of charitable organizations like the Disabled American Veterans. For owners of classic Chevelles and El Caminos or those who simply enjoy being around them, this is a worthwhile group to join.
