The heart of the automobile industry of days gone by and the site of a recent surge in success, Detroit, is counting down to a classic car show that incorporates many great things about the city. Not only is the Motor City known for its cars, but it is also known for its sports, and right now Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers is the subject of headlines all over. On Saturday, July 7, 2012, fans of classic cars can enjoy the best of both worlds. The MotorCity Casino Hotel and Total Lubricants will host the 2nd annual Tigers Classic Car Show in Lot 2, on Witherell Street, and Columbia Plaza.
On the same evening, the Tigers will play the Kansas City Royals in a rousing game of baseball. According to information sent via e-mail, there are several requirements to enter a classic car into the show. For example, each car must have been “manufactured in 1989 or before, must be of show quality, must be street legal, must have current insurance coverage.” However, the email goes on to say that “If selected, a registration fee of $115 will apply, which includes a car show space, two tickets to the Tigers vs. Royals game, two food vouchers for use within Comerica Park, two Classic Car Show T-Shirts, and a Classic Car Show poster.”
If you’re thinking about entering a car, you’d better do so quickly! The deadline is Friday, June 8 at 5:00 pm.
The public is welcome to join in the fun, and for $40, attendees will receive “which includes an Upper Box Infield ticket to the game, a Detroit Tigers Classic Car Show T-Shirt and Poster voucher, and a $5 food voucher.”
