Welcome Classic Ford Fans
People who are aficionados of American cars of the past are aware of just how important the Ford Motor Company has always been. In a very real sense Ford revolutionized the American business model via the concept attributed to founder Henry Ford that was subsequently dubbed “Fordism.” This involved mass manufacturing products that many ordinary people could afford while paying workers well.
In fact, Ford set the price point of the Model T so that it would be affordable to the people who were actually building the car. This certainly makes a lot of sense and it helped to create the American middle class during the 20th century.
Henry Ford was born in 1863 just outside of what would come to be known as the “Motor City,” Detroit, Michigan in Greenfield Township. He was the son of William Ford, an Irish immigrant, and after founding the Ford Motor Company in 1903 he went on to become one of the wealthiest and most influential people in the entire world.
Whatever you want to say about the man he certainly did live the quintessential American dream and he goes on to have influence to this day via the work of the Ford Foundation. And interestingly enough, he also saw to it that his family would still control the company after his death and in fact they still do. The Ford family has been controlling the company for more than a century.
This was a brief look at the birth of the Ford Motor Company that went on to design and manufacture some of the most coveted American collector cars ever built.
