The heart of the automobile industry of days gone by and the site of a recent surge in success, Detroit, is counting down to a classic car show that incorporates many great things about the city. Not only is the Motor City known for its cars, but it is also known for its sports, and right now Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers is the subject of headlines all over. On Saturday, July 7, 2012, fans of classic cars can enjoy the best of both worlds. The MotorCity Casino Hotel and Total Lubricants will host the 2nd annual Tigers Classic Car Show in Lot 2, on Witherell Street, and Columbia Plaza.
Detroit Auto Show: Car lovers from miles around have been flocking to the Detroit Auto Show, which opened January 9th and will run until the 22nd at the COBO Center in Detroit, Michigan. The city of Detroit, aptly named the Motor City has a long history tied to the auto industry, and has held auto shows for over a century. However, at the beginning, the vehicles featured there were strictly regional. December 1907 saw the first Detroit Auto Show at Riverview Park following the formation of the Detroit Area Dealer Association during the same year. It all began with only 17 exhibitors, less than a third of today’s 60 exhibitors.
The Canadian International Auto Show roars into Toronto this weekend and runs through February 27th. This year’s theme is “Discover, Connect, Experience”. The organizers of the show would like you to discover the latest in electric hybrids, hydrogen-powered models, and advances in technologies such as navigation systems and enhanced web interaction. They want you to connect with the vehicles by feeling and interacting with the most advanced automotive creations. Finally, they want you to experience industry-leading displays, special exhibits, and exclusive, on-site test drive opportunities.
The 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan just came to a close, and it was quite a special event as always. What better place for an important yearly automotive showcase than the home of General Motors and the capital of American automotive engineering. Attendance at this year’s show surpassed last year’s already robust count significantly, which goes to show that despite the uncertain state of the economy, astute automotive consumers are still interested in the best the industry has to offer.
There has been quite an automotive buzz emanating from Southern California this week as the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show has taken center stage. The big extravaganza kicked off on Friday, November 19th and the last day of the show is Sunday, November 28th when the doors will be open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
There are some stunning exhibits at the L.A. Auto Show this year, and the categories include World and North American Cars; Concept Cars; Electric, Hybrid & Alternative Fuel Cars; and Aftermarket and Project Cars. The show also features a design challenge, and there are ongoing test drive opportunities offered by Kia, Toyota, Ford, Land Rover, and GMC.
