The Fast American Production Cars
Many people think you have spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on European exotics to get a fast ride. If you love good ol’ American cars, there are plenty of options available that will take you from zero to sixty in a nail-biting speed. These are a few of the fastest cars ever to come out of an American assembly line:
The 5 Fastest Muscle Cars
The smell of rubber burning and exhaust spewing, the scream of tires grinding against pavement and the crowd cheering on their favorite, and the heat and sweat of a summer night filled with adrenaline – that, my friend, is a drag race.
While everyone likes an exhilarating and exciting drag race, seeing no one in front of you when the checkered flag is flashed, holding the coveted trophy or just the having bragging rights shows you are the winner, you have the fastest car – everyone lusts for a taste of that! That is why I bring you the Top 5 Fastest Muscle Cars according to Muscle Car Review Magazine, ranked based on their elapsed time on a quarter-mile track.
Classic Car InsuranceIf you own a classic car or an antique car, you have an expensive hobby. Taking care of that car, or cars if you have a collection, takes time and money. To protect your hobby and your investment, having insurance is essential. A typical insurance policy, like one you would get for your newer car that you use regularly is not a great option for a special car. You really need to get classic car insurance to ensure that you get the best protection.
Cars and Songs
There is no doubt that music and automobiles have a place together in history. For many people, there is nothing quite like cruising around town with the radio blasting. The love affair with cars and music inspired songwriters to craft memorable pieces all about their favorite cars, like the Lincoln Zephyr, the Mercedes Benz, and the Chevy Corvette. Here are a few cars that appeared in song lyrics by artists from a variety of different music genres:
Cars Turned into Art
To many people, cars are a form of artwork. To a select few, cars are the canvas to use to create art. Some cars, like the Chevy Corvette and the Mazda Miata, are sculptures all by themselves. Car purists might not enjoy the fact that artists are transforming their favorite working sculptures into eye-catching pieces of art, but the fact is that alternative art is here to stay. Here are a few notable pieces:
Elvis Presley and His Cars
When you think of Elvis Presley, you might imagine him shaking his hips on the Ed Sullivan Show. You might think of the studded white jumpsuits he wore in the 1970s. You might even think of his thick, black hair in the full, yet messy pompadour style that accented his pouting lips perfectly. You also might think about his home, Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. What you might not think about is his extensive collection of automobiles.
Expensive Cars to Repair
Anyone who has ever owned a car knows this statement to be true: Cars are not cheap to own. Taking the cost of the car, insurance, fuel, and maintenance into account, the actual cost to own the car is usually close to double the cost of the actual monthly car payment that people pay. Yes, many cars come with excellent warranties, but once those run out, the actual cost to repair several makes and models can be absolutely outrageous. These are a few of the highest:
Leonardo Dicaprio Movie Cars
Leonardo Dicaprio is one of the most talented modern-day actors. Since he plays major roles in many period-piece films, he often finds himself being able to enjoy driving classic vehicles. Interestingly, the very first car he ever owned was a Ford Mustang from the 1960s. Moving many years into the future, he now is personally involved in environmental issues and he personally drives cars that are environmentally friendly. Despite the fact that he is such an environmentally friendly actor, many of the vintage cars he was fortunate enough to drive were anything but environmentally friend. These are a few of the more notable cars:
Cars that Moved Brands
Some car names are just too good to stay within one brand. While it is impossible to consider the Mustang ever belonging to a carmaker other than Ford or a Corvette not being a Chevy, there are a few car models that have switched to other makers. Most of the name switches did not take place overnight, but many involved the defunct AMC along with cars in the Mopar lineup. Here are some of the notable switches:
Cars Named for Mythological Gods and Goddesses
Where do cars get their names? This question stumps many car buyers. Many car buyers do not understand the reasoning for the collection of seemingly random letters and numbers. While many car buyers are able to connect many of the names to timely events, like the space race, the cars that received those names rarely looked like their namesakes. For example, the Chevy Corvette was named for a warship, but the car is sporty and compact, nothing like a warship. Many cars were named after mythological gods and goddesses, but it seems as if some car manufacturers did not consider the stories of those gods when they chose the names.
