1970s Television Heroes and their Rides

'63 Ford GalaxieIn the 1970s, television viewers were treated to some fun characters, like the Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, and the cast of Hawaii 5-0. The characters were bigger than life and they drove iconic cars. These are a few of the best 1970s characters and their vehicles:

'64 Ford Galaxie 500In the early days of American space explorations, the world watched as the country’s eyes were fixed on the heavens. With President Kennedy’s vow to reach the moon, a goal which was realized not too long thereafter, so began America’s love affair with the idea of reaching a better understanding of the mysteries that abounded among the stars that so brilliantly twinkled in the skies above. In 1959, Ford rolled out the Galaxie, and the name of this classic car was surely appropriate for the times. The car cruised through the 1960s and into the 1970s, before coming to an end in 1974. Built in Chicago, IL and Wayne, MI, these cars reflected pride in American accomplishments of the day.

The Changing Face Of The Ford Galaxie

There are a handful of car models that existed during parts of several decades when the American automakers were really thriving, and it is very interesting to take a look at their evolution. More recently, when you look at a car from 1990 and then look at the 2010 version, you’ll see a difference, but it is not going to be extremely profound in most cases. But back in the 1950s through the 1980s, the changes could be very dramatic.
