There Were Other Cars in Back to the Future
When you look back at the wildly popular Back to the Future, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015, you might think of Marty McFly, Biff, Doc Brown, and the DeLorean DMC-12. The characters and the car appeared in all three episodes of the movie and they all created memorable moments that make that movie timeless. These are a few of the other vehicles that you might not remember from the Back to the Future trilogy:
Volkswagen Bus: In the early scenes of Back to the Future, Marty uses the DeLorean DMC-12 to get away from the Libyans who are driving a baby blue Volkswagen Bus. The use the open roof to shoot at Doc Brown who stole plutonium from them to power his time machine.
Toyota 4×4 Extra Cab: While the DeLorean DMC-12 never sold what John DeLorean hoped it would after its starring role in the film, the Toyota 4×4 did. We never did get to see Marty drive the Toyota truck, but we can only imagine how cool he would have looked behind the wheel wearing his orange puffer vest and drinking a Tab.
Ford Super Deluxe: Even though Biff was the villain that everyone loved to hate, he did have heroic taste in cars. His 1946 Ford Super Deluxe was the perfect Biff-mobile for cruising around Hill Valley, until he ran into the manure. Like all good villains, Biff’s car was painted black.
Packard Custom Eight Victoria: Doc Brown did not just have the DeLorean DMC-12. He had a buttery yellow Packard with a white convertible top. Marty had to borrow this beauty to take his mom to the prom. The variation between the classy softness of the Packard and the futuristic stainless steel of the DeLorean DMC-12 shows the complexity of Doc Brown.
BMW 733i: As the present changes, Marty McFly’s dad become cool and in the 1980s, there was nothing cooler than driving a BMW. George McFly didn’t drive just any old BMW, he drove the uber-cool BMW 733i. It was truly a joy watching Biff polishing the most expensive BMW of the day.
