The 1982 Ford Thunderbird has a new 3.8-liter OHV V6 available producing 112 hp. This is the last model of the 8th generation. Another available option is a new four-speed over-drive automatic transmission, providing the traditional economy benefit of OD without the hassle of shifting; rack-and-pinion steering, for precision. The Thunderbird has a 255-cubic-inch version of the Ford small-block V8 that produces 115 hp. The only optional engine is the formerly standard 302 V8 carrying a two-barrel carb and rated at 131 hp.
