The 1997 Lotus Elise is part of the first generation of the Elise which is a two-door convertible sports car that weighs 720 kilograms and reaches 62 mph in 5.8 seconds. The Lotus is named after the granddaughter of Lotus' chairman at that time, Romano Artioli, the Elise was based on a 1.8L Rover K-Series engine with three possible outputs, 118 HP, 143 HP and 179 HP. The Lotus Elise has an engine that is naturally aspirated petrol, 1.8 litre, double overhead camshaft 4 cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder. The powerplant for the Elise produces 118 bhp (120 PS/88 kW) of power at 5500 rpm, and maximum torque of 165 N•m (122 lb•ft/16.8 kgm) at 3000 rpm.
