1968 Chevrolet Camaro

1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Fort Worth Texas

 Vehicle Description
This 1968 Camaro provides a refreshing lesson in honesty. While other coupes from this desired year have been pulled apart and made into something else, this coupe has spent nearly a half-century largely untouched and is now an affordable classic. With only 2-owners since new and 65,167 actual miles on the clock, this is a survivor Camaro we dont often come across, and thats exactly why we love / brbr Its hard to resist a Camaro in its original shade of Grotto Blue. This one has not been made into something it is not, but it rather shows off the sleek 1st generation lines that GM was so proud of. As far as we can tell, the paint is the original coat and offers a wonderful patina that still shows well today, albeit the car has acquired a couple bumps and bruises in the last 50 years. The striping, the chin spoiler, and American Racing old-style wheels are all desirable features that really sport-up this car, and the overall stance and appearance is like a time capsule that reminds you of those days when you saw your first Camaro. It ignited something in you, because the styling was more aggressive, but just as affordable as the Mustang. This is the model that truly started the pony car wars. br / brbr The interior was originally code 717 blue standard buckets, so its evident that its been revamped in its past with black upholstery, carpets and dash. All of these are in good condition considering the age of the car, and this sea of black is not alone. The chrome accents are all in place, including the Camaro nameplates on the doors and the lockable glovebox. A welcomed introduction for the 1968 model year was the Astro Ventilation system. This not only helped get more fresh air into the car, but it also eliminated the need for vent windows in the front, so, unlike the first year Camaro, you now have the true pillarless look with all the windows rolled down. One upgrade to the interior over the years was an aftermarket Dino steering wheel, although the original 3-spoke Camaro wheel is included with purchase. The original AM radio fits perfectly into the dark panels (and it still works!) and keeps the dash stock, another testament to conscientious low ownership and their commitment to the overall preservation of originality. br / brbr Under the hood is where this Camaro continues to show its personality, even after 50 years. The previous owners resisted fitting a V8 crate motor, and instead, the numbers-matching 250 cubic-inch inline six-cylinder has been carefully maintained over the last five decades. This resistance to change is what gives the car its unique personality today, but if putting a small block into the engine bay is the new owners thoughts... well, that would be money well invested too. For a small price you could push this 1st Gen. Camaro to the next level, although we really love that its one of the few left on the road with a strong straight six under the hood. The current engine is really a true cruiser, comfortable with seven main bearings and what appears to be the factory-installed Rochester carburetor. It will take you just about anywhere you like, and save on gas as well, all while looking sharp. A 3-speed in the floor manual transmission shifts through gears effortlessly, and the suspension feels great thanks to the added stiffness of front and rear sway bars. Its such a smooth runner that it offers a kind of comfort not seen in many first-generation Camaros / brbr This is an affordable cruiser with great performance looks and a true Camaro pedigree. Nicely documented with a factory buildsheet, owners manual, and loads of maintenance records, this low mileage/low ownership Camaro is truly a special find. Call today!br/br/
