1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Svt Pre-production Prototype

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Svt Pre-production Prototype in Lutz Florida

 Vehicle Description
This 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is a pre-production car that is not supposed to exist. A year early for the revolutionary 32-valve 4.6-liter V8, this is believed to be a 1 of 1 test bed for Ford. Saved from the crusher and instead given even more experimental components, this prototype Mustangs story is worth its value price / brbr The story goes that car #3629 of the 4,005 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobras was plucked off the assembly line and chosen for a very special assignment. It was the first Mustang Cobra to receive the 4.6-liter DOHC V8. This motor wouldnt be available to Mustang fans until the following year, and this was the car used as both a test bed and a show car for the now-famous powerplant (after all, Ford needed some advance time to get the enthusiasts ready for the motor that was going to replace the iconic 5.0.) When the spotlight goes away, we all know that prototypes usually meet a grim fate. The word is that this was scheduled to be crushed, but saved by at the last minute in one of those Motown backdoor deals that let a few concepts slip away (part of this legend includes that the deal was put together by a Roush engineer, and he possibly even made the car, engine, and other components as separate deals!) We do know that the coupe made its way to Colorado where John Ames raced it in SCCA events. But more than just a cool club racer, it also became a test bed for Zexel Torsen that included developing the T-2R race differential. So this car was actually a poster child for the 4.6 DOHC and the new racing rear end!br / brbr For a car thats not supposed to exist, it sure doesnt mind leaving a lasting impression. The Crystal White paint has a well preserved appearance that loves the sunlight. We still have plenty of pictures from its testing days where this one had as many endorsements as a NASCAR stock car, so its a great way to tell this ones story. But today it can almost go incognito as a well-preserved Cobra. Of course, it also doesnt hurt that it was treated to the newer Cobra-correct Ford NOS headlights to make sure that this car is truly putting its best face / brbr Inside the saddle leather interior looks nicer than most other 1995 Mustangs. This prototype is a genuine Cobra, so you get all the right details like the correct air bag cover and white-faced gauges. It also comes with plenty of comfortable features such as power windows, power locks, cruise control, power seats, dual airbags, AM/FM/cassette stereo, and even ice-cold air / brbr Under the hood is the 4.6-liter V8 that was a worthy successor to the 5.0. It is believed to be the same engine that was installed when Fords Special Vehicle Team (SVT) plucked this car off the assembly line in the early 1995. One of this cars previous owners did polish some of the components, so it helps draw in the crowds before you wow them with your unique story. But this very special Cobra is not just good to show off; its ready to race, too. Fortified with Eibach lowering springs, Tokico D-spec struts, Ford Performance 1-1/2 front sway bar with dual clamp locks, and rear sway bar with triangulated Panhard bar bracing, this is a coupe that knows how to stay flat in the corners. Plus, control is well in hand thanks to the four-wheel disc brakes and the BF Goodrich g-Force tires on the correct Cobra R wheels. The T-45 five-speed manual is part of the unique prototype package, and so this believed original unit was rebuilt later in life. Plus, it still has the outstanding Torsen T-2R Traction Differential that this car helped develop into a must-have for performance Mustangs. Best of all, the moment you fire this one up, people hear the roar of the dual H-pipe exhaust. With no catalytic converter in the way, they will all know you have something / brbr The prototype comes with restoration photos, title documentation, SVT info, and an article written about this 1 of 1. Its part of a full binder of data to tell this cars cool story. Theres a lot more info and components to mention, so call us for all the details. Its an interesting story for a very affordable price, and theres a race-ready incredible Mustang thrown in the deal, too! Call today!!!br/br/
