We often refer to the "Big Three" American automakers, and of course they have always been Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. As the 1970s became the 1980s, the Japanese automobile manufacturers started to take more and more of the market share in the United States, and before you knew it, there was another trio of ca...r makers that one could describe as the Big Three of Japanese imports to America: Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. The influence of these companies cannot be understated, and for better or for worse, this new Big Three has changed everything.

There are a lot similarities between all six of these companies, and from a marketing angle, the various divisions were targeted toward certain demographic niches. Cadillac, Lincoln, and Imperial were luxury units for the U.S. big three, and the Japanese have the same arrangement. Infiniti is the division of Nissan that produces luxury cars; in a similar vein, Toyota has the Lexus, and Honda has the Acura division. The Infiniti brand first made its debut in the United States back in 1989, and it is still going strong, having recently expanded to a number of European countries as well. If you like the Nissan but want to step it up a notch, the Infiniti is manufactured with you in mind.
