 Vehicle Description

Great truck give me a call --- make an offer

good fun truck - runs down the road very well - original model R100 - original engine IHC SD220 - runs great - good compression

Here's the story - I originally bought the truck in 1987 in Venice Beach for it to be a weekend surf truck. In 1993 I had a full body down to the frame restoration. I was originally a 3-speed column shift (linkage issues with the shift) so I replaced that in 1992 with an IHC 4 speed with a granny first gear and rebuilt the rear end to 4.11 so it could pull my 57 camper trailer at 75mph about 3000 rpm. I installed the (optional) sock style oil filter housing. I raised the rear axel 4" to improve off pavement clearance, and it could go straight up very steep hills in granny gear.

we spent 2000 to 2012 at a ranch in New Mexico about 20 miles from the pavement, and it did well - seldom left the ranch - but it was hard on the body. In 2012 we moved to Silver City NM and in 2017 had all the fenders and other body parts rebolted, new shocks, new upholstery, rebuilt the starter and generator. In 2018-19 replaced the carburator with a new remanufactured holley single barrel (original stock) replaced the fuel pump, pulled the fuel tank and flushed, cleaned and sealed it, and repaired and repainted the entire truck body. the cab iinterior is the original 1993 (freighliner Blue) paint job

The 1987 speedometer reading when purchased was 76,300 (it was reported to have been a "yard truck" since it was new at a Riverside CA steel yard) The original speedo had to be replaced with a used IHC stock speedometer and the current actual miles are approximately 140,000. since I have owned it has been tuned, valve adjusted, and oil and filter changed on a regular basis. It runs well and the compression is good. It has always been in California, Arizona or New Mexico and has no salt, rust or rot on the body or frame. The last two photos are 1994 surf truck and trailer and a 2008 painting from the ranch - the rest of the photos are currrent

I think I'm the third owner, but I'm getting pretty old and it needs a good home with someone that will care - give me a call if you're interested
